I’ve been doing a bit of spinning lately. I finished up 8 ounces of 2 ply over the weekend, and it was very pleasant to work through. Want to see it?
I ended up with a sock weight yarn, and it’s 685 yards or so. I really like the brights!
Then I did a little more plying. I’ve been saving up my scrappy ends of singles for well over a year. I used a mason jar, and every time I had extra I’d ball it up and throw it in the jar. The jar was full, so I decided I’d get a skein of scrappy yarn plied.
I just love love love the craziness of a 6 ply yarn. I’ve done them as chain ply yarn holding 3 singles together before, but this time I just wanted to do a full 6 ply yarn.
I ended up with 125 yards of bulky 6 ply yarn and it’s just so pretty! The common thread in this skein is that there is one navy blue single all the way through. I have enough navy blue singles to do at least one more skein, but I need more scraps, so it’ll have to wait. I’ll fill up my mason jar again, and then do another ply session. It’ll be quite some time before that can be done, but since handspun yarn does tend to live in my collection for a good long time, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I’ve started a few knitting projects and look forward to showing them off this week. Again, handspun will be a major component in both of them. And I do think I’ll start another spinning project soon. In the meantime, stay well!
