Rolling Project Pan Update 6

It’s headed toward the first of the month, so it’s time for the first of my two beginning of the month project pan updates. Let’s start with the makeup one! This is the one in which I use prompts to choose the products I try to pan or meet goals on. Prompts and last month’s photo below.

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing
9. A product from a previous project.

img_3862

I was close enough to done with the pretty vulgar powder to call it done, and I added the AOA studios powder as my product from a previous project.

This month’s photo:

img_4101

An expensive product is my attempt to hit pan on my hourglass dim light powder, still hasn’t happened.

A drugstore product is my NYX eyebrow pencil which I am making progress on, but it’s slow going. I may have explained in the last post that I am using this simultaneously with another brow pencil that I like less. I generally use the one I like less when I am spending the day at home and saving this one for when I am going to work. But, progress is being made!

An old favorite is my benefit hula bronzer, and I FINALLY hit pan! My goal is to use this up, and I am positive it’ll take all year. I am not going to concentrate on increasing the pan this upcoming month, instead, I plan to start concentrating my brush on the other side so it wears a bit more evenly. Hitting pan really did help my motivation though, I’ve been waiting on that pan for at least two months.

A product I haven’t used in a while is my L’Oreal silkissimee liner in blue. My goal on this one was to use it past the “L’Oreal” text, and it currently says “L’OrI” so that’s some good progress too! I’ve been super happy with this color as it pairs beautifully with the pinks and reds that are in my current eyeshadow project.

A product of my choosing was the it cosmetics cc cream. This is such an odd one to me, as I’ve used the illuminating and matte versions and both match me well in color light, but this one looks too yellow. I’ve kind of been saving it for at home days. I finished up the tiny sample, and only have the travel sized version left. I have used the travel size once.

My product from a previous project was the AOA studios powder and I finished that up pretty easily as well! So, I get to roll in another prompt and product.

10. A Unique product-for this I am choosing my last pan of “frankenhighlight.” I made this out of a cruddy eyeshadow palette and some really white sparkly loose highlighter. I had a total of 3 pans and I’ve used up the other two. I’d like to move this one out of my collection as well. This is best used as an inner corner highlight but can also be used on my cheeks. I already have pan on it, and it’s pretty loosely pressed overall. I think I can get this used up in a month or two.

I had been really struggling to see any movement at all on this project 2 months ago. In two months, enough movement to keep me inspired! If I am lucky I’ll be able to choose one more prompt next month, and that’s absolutely what I’ll be working toward.

Strider

Here’s a finished object I quite enjoyed knitting in the most mindless of ways.

img_4059

This is the Strider scarf and boy did it turn out beautifully! The yarn is Miss Marja’s handspun. I was 2/3 of the way through when Rosie dog got hold of the ball of yarn and ripped it up pretty good. I was able to untangle enough to finish the scarf properly without too much loss. It’s still a nice beefy scarf. But, I would have appreciated having all the yarn to devote to it of course.

This is most certainly on my list of items to knit again. Absolutely.

It Is Done

Our sweet little foster dog found her new home! We received an approved application for a woman who works from home permanently, a woman with a fenced-in yard, someone who doesn’t have other dogs, but has grandkids and granddogs that visit.

When she came to meet our sweet foster, it was apparent that she was just as taken with her as we have been for all our dogs, meeting them for the first time.

So, after a few days where our foster dog finished up her treatment and got to go to the dog park:

img_4016

And got to go on a few walks with us, and meet neighborhood children, we prepared for her to leave our home.

We said our goodbyes and treasured her completely for about 24 hours before it was time for her to go home. And when it was time, we got her all dressed up and headed over to her new home which isn’t at all far from our home!

img_4048

Didn’t she look cute?

She walked into her new home and acted like she owned the place. Not even a little hesitation. She even managed to find a bag of dog food in the basement to investigate. She used her nose all over her new home and I am certain she’s still doing that today.

We couldn’t have anticipated a more perfect home for her. And while we miss the pitter patter of a third set of dog feet in the house, we are so pleased that she’s found a forever home!

Fostering

Since the first post where we originally got our little foster dog, I haven’t given any updates! I think this is because it’s been quite busy with 3 dogs in the home.

For the first two weeks she was in our home she was not feeling particularly well as heartworm treatment is rough on dogs. She mostly slept and wanted to be on a human or left alone.

After two weeks she was feeling much better. That made the forced rest that she was on a little more difficult. But, it also made her more comfortable with our resident dogs. For the first two weeks, we were struggling with her and Rose getting along. To be fair, we still struggle from time to time. But with her feeling healthier, it’s definitely easier.

img_3853

She’s particularly fond of sitting on or near the humans in the home. In this photo, she snuggled up to Fury for the first time. She also knows how to work those eyes and ears!

On Wednesday she’s finally done with her forced rest for heartworm treatment and can go for a walk with our dogs. I think this will be so welcome to her, as well as being a good thing for our dogs all to do together. We do feel that by taking on a dog going through heartworm treatment, we were unable to use all the tricks and techniques we generally do in order to integrate a new dog into our household.

img_3921

Here she is helping me work from home.

She really is a darling little dog. We are still waiting for a family to adopt her. She will stay with us until that happens. But once it does, well be able to choose a new dog to foster, thus being able to save one more.

June Beauty Balance Part 2

Otherwise known as, the items that entered my collection. And there were many.

In yesterday’s post I’d made it to 59 items leaving my collection over what entered this year so far. This total is going to be reduced greatly. There were a couple factors. First, the hair event, I knew I had a number of things I would pick up during the hair event. Then, I had finished or almost finished some items I needed to replace, and in doing so, I also ended up with a goody bag of samples.

And then there was the shopping trip. The first big one since the stores have opened up a bit. And in fact, it wasn’t meant to be as large a trip as it was. The goal had simply been to go to a store to return some clothing that didn’t fit, purchased during the stores closed to the public portion of the pandemic. Miss Butterfly and I had decided to go early in the morning in order to stay away from the crowds. We’d double checked store hours, but when we arrived, there were signs on the window indicating a late start. We were more than an hour and a half early. We should have just gone home. But, she checked the other stores in that chain, some of them indicating a late start, one did not, so we drove all the way out to THAT store. Guess what? It, too, had a late start, even though the web was not updated.

There was a farmer’s market there, we wandered through but saw little. We wandered through the shopping center, all outdoors. Nothing was open. We got in the car and headed back to the first complex. Then we hit up Target and Ulta while waiting for the store we wanted to be at to open up.

And honestly, my ability to slow my spending roll was really low that day I think. I purchased at both ulta and Target and honestly, I didn’t need any of it. But here we are.

First photo:

img_3899

I am getting close to being done with my retinoid product, soI wanted to get some new. It was cheaper to purchase two at a time, so I did. I finished up a cleansing balm and Clean It Zero was on sale and something I’ve always wanted to try. I picked that up. The Ordinary glycolic acid toner I picked up as I am almost done with my current container. I finished our cerave facial cleanser this month, and it was buy one get one half off, so I picked up the night cream I enjoy using as well. Elf’s jelly collection is back for a limited time, and I’d heard good things about that cleanser too, so I picked up one of those. And, we are close to being done with our shower gel that everyone uses, so I picked up a new shower gel too.

Now we are back down to 51 items leaving my collection this  year over what entered. But wait, it’ll go way down in the next photo as well.

img_3900

Here we have the 3 hair products I intended to pick up in order to get me through to the next hair event. I also seemed to be unable to resist trying a couple of the tiny elf eyeshadow palettes I’ve been seeing everywhere lately. I had heard good things about the elf jellypop primer as well, figured I’d give that a try. And, I missed having maybelline age rewind concealer so I got one of those.

The rest of the items are from the samples I was sent. A Belif aqua bomb you KNOW I’ll use, I love the stuff. A cerave moisturizing lotion, again nothing wrong with that! There’s a la roche posay cleanser I am eager to try as well as a dermalogica spf. There’s a shiseido toner and a mario badescu facial spray. All of these items I’ll use happily. There was also a face mask, but I didn’t want it, I already moved it to Miss Butterfly’s collection.

So that brings me back down to 38 items leaving my collection over what entered. AND, it leaves me desirous of another low buy time period. From here through mid-August, replacements ONLY. I just do not need anything, and this was a rather massive restock.

June Beauty Balance

This will be a post in two parts. Today is empties, tomorrow will be purchases. This is because there are too many empties and purchases to combine this into one post.

In May, I had 44 items leaving my collection over what came in. Here’s what I finished up and decluttered this month:

img_3889

At the very top there is a food container. This held, for the past 2 years, a full container of coconut oil which Mr. Ink decided he didn’t need in his kitchen. I then spent 2 years incorporating it into my routine for makeup removal. Not every day, as it’s a bit heavy. But, as regularly as I could get away with. You bet your booty I am counting this as an empty.

Then there’s a couple large items. Our regular Cerave cleanser that I keep in our shower, this is used by Miss Butterfly and me. There are two redken hair products, one is a thickening lotion and the other a spray mousse. Neither of which I’ll repurchase but I am happy to have used them. Then a full container of dry shampoo that I am giving to Miss Butterfly.

That’s 49 items out over what came in. Second photo. Yep, there’s more:

img_3890

There’s sample size of supergoop sunscreen, it doesn’t count. But it smelled great!

I have a sample size it cosmetics mascara, I just opened it, remembered how much I hate it and how much it transfers on my browbone, and gave it to Miss Butterfly.

There’s a tiny pan of highlighter-it was a highlighter I created, and called my frankenhighlight. This was back in 2018. This is the second of 3 pans of it, and I finished it.

Then there’s a beauty blender cleanser solid that I finished. I wouldn’t repurchase.

I have a L’oreal brow stylist. I couldn’t get any more product out of it so I removed the stopper. That was a mistake, as then it was so goopy I couldn’t use it on my brows and I could see how discolored it was from being used for so long. That’s enough, it’s done. I might repurchase this.

I have a clinique hydrating jelly moisturizer and I liked it so much more than I imagined. I  rolled my eyes when this item showed up on the market. It looked gross to me, and I “knew” it would be sticky. I was incorrect, it’s a lovely moisturizer, one I’d be happy to own at some point.

I finished up two of my perfume samples, black opium and Ralph Lauren for Women, both of which I liked quite a lot.

I am tossing my lash glue. It is all goopy and gross, it no longer works. If I ever want to wear fake lash pieces again, I’ll buy new glue. But, I think that’s probably over with my wedding, I haven’t had a moment’s urge to do so since.

And, the final two items. A clinique take the day off balm which I LOVE, and a pretty vulgar powder I finally finished up.

Now that’s 59 items out over what entered this year. Here’s a spoiler, I purchased a lot this month and I’ll end up all the way down below where I started in tomorrow’s post.

Partners in Cream project pan update 5

My Partners in cream project pan should have been updated yesterday but I did not get around to it. I figured I’d get a final day of use in by postponing until today, but I ended up not wearing makeup at all. So, here we are. Last month:

img_3652

In the last update I’d been making good enough progress even though I wasn’t wearing a ton of makeup in general. This month I wore makeup a lot. I just…decided I was going to wear it to feel awake and alive and good. And, I was in the office more than I had been previously.

Here’s this month:

img_3923

I made great progress on my cc cream. Really good dent in it. And, now that I’ve been outside more, this is a great color as is, I don’t have to mix with a lighter foundation to get a proper color match. I suspect I’ll be done within the next two months here.

My Becca first light primer is also seeing a nice amount of use, I will certainly be able to finish this up in the upcoming month. I’ll roll in another primer once this one is gone.

My No Poreblem primer has seen a little less use than the becca one, but I am still making progress.

Nice amount od progress on my Rose facial spray!

And then, I’d rolled in 3 perfume samples last month. I finished two of them, the third I am close to being done with, and I added in a fourth which is a Jo Malone fragrance. I mostly did this because I wasn’t entirely sure what to roll in next. I figured another month working on sample fragrances would buy me the time I need to decide on a new product next month.

So, if all goes well, I’ll have at least two new items to roll in next month, and possibly three depending on where I am with that cc cream. I feel very good about this month’s update!

In Process

So, I finished up the flatten the curve scarf over the weekend and realized I hadn’t shown the other project I’ve been working on. The pattern is called Strider, and it’s a very simple modular scarf/shawl. I am, again, using Marja’s handspun from my stash. This one is a nice deep green gradient. The long rows of this knit show off that color beautifully.

img_3908

The rows are long, the increases are simple, and it’s all garter stitch. I should be bored. I am not.

Flatten the Curve Scarf

I decided to use some of Miss Marja’s lovely handspun to knit a flatten the curve scarf. Sadly, I did not read the pattern correctly and missed some of the garter ridges. But, it’s still a pretty scarf.

img_3901

Half of it is knit flat and the other half on the bias, which is pretty clever, I think. That being said, this really needs a garter border down the length of the side, as the edges on the flat side want to curl in.

I really enjoyed the changing colors of the handspun yarn though, isn’t it pretty?

Pan Those Eyeshadows Update 2

The second month of pan those eyeshadows roulette style comes with some new rules. Previously I mentioned that I could roll out a shadow that I’ve hit pan on or used 35 times in 3 months. I am changing the rules a bit. I can roll out a project I’ve hit pan on or used 30 times total, whichever comes first.

Here’s what I had in my little project:

img_3626

This photo above is from last month, I’ll post a current photo below. I’ve got a Nyx happy birthday palette, the color I got was a green. A single shadow from Sydney Grace called Token, Heron Chic and Nevermore from Bye Bye Birdie palette by Colourpop, Violet Voss Sugar Crystals palette-color sugar crystals, and not shown is a color from my Too Faced christmas palette called Make a Wish. I hadn’t used it enough to grab a photo.

And here’s my usage breakdown:

  1. Nyx green-16 uses this month for a total of 24 uses. (I feel certain I will roll this out next month.)
  2. Too Faced Christmas Make a wish used once for a total usage of twice.
  3. Sydney Grace Token used 18 times for a total use of 30-time to roll it out!
  4. Birdie Heron Chic used 6 times for a total of 10 uses.
  5. Birdie Nevermore used 3 times for a total of 6 uses.
  6. Sugar Crystals used 8 times for a total of 16 uses.

So, I got to roll in a new shadow, which turned out to be a shadow in my Revlon Maverick palette. It’s a matte colored orangey brown, which I think could pair well with the nyx green and maybe even the Too Faced color I haven’t used much at all.

img_3884

Here’s my update photo for this month. No new pans anywhere, though I’d hoped to get surprise pan on another nyx color. It could happen by next month though. The Sydney Grace single will be leaving the project, and I’ve added in the little maverick palette.

Here are the swatches of the colors for this upcoming month:

img_3866

I am trusting that new brown matte shadow to look good with the Nyx green and the Too Faced color I’ve barely worn right above it. It might even work with the bye bye birdie shimmer. The best part is that I’ll get to play around with it this month and see how it works for me.

As for what I’ll concentrate on, it’ll be finishing the 30 uses of the nyx green. I’ve only got 6 more uses left, and I am positive I’ll manage that. I will be so pleased to roll that one out! It’s an underperforming shadow at best, and I always need some sort of shadow topper to make it look good. Beyond that I am not sure, but likely I’ll keep chipping away at the violet voss shadow and the colourpop heron chic shadow.

While I am not using much else in my collection so that I can concentrate on this challenge I’ve given myself, I am fully enjoying the challenge. It’s fun to create looks across palettes and it’s also fun to just concentrate on a few palettes and colors.

Rolling Project Pan Update 5

This is my project pan where I use various prompts to help me choose my products. Here’s what I was working with last month:

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing

img_3592

And this is where I was last month. I had rolled in the Bare Minerals pro powder foundation thinking that I’d wear powder foundation to work under my mask. That’s not exactly what happened. What I found works best for me is to wear regular foundation set well around my chin, nose, and cheeks with setting powder. That lasts with no touch-ups between mask wearing for half the day. Then, when touch-ups are actually necessary, I use the bare minerals pro foundation to touch up, covering the slightly spotty worn off areas between mask-wearing.

As such, I am rolling that item back out, keeping my prompt, and rolling in something new for that prompt. That item is two sample/travel size It cosmetics your skin but better cc creams.

img_3862

Here’s where I am currently. For a product with cute packaging, the pretty vulgar setting powder is almost gone. I am going to finish it this month. As such, my plan is to roll something new in this time around and consider this complete. You’ll see it in my empties.

An expensive product is my hourglass dim light powder, which I desire to hit pan on. I have not yet done so. This is a lot of product, I’ve been using this regularly all year and I have not hit pan. I used it regularly in the past 2 years as well and did not hit pan. So, I’d say that while it is an expensive product, it packs a punch in the amount of product.

A Drugstore product is my NYX eyebrow pencil. I am making progress bit by bit. However, progress has slowed a bit on it. This is because I have another eyebrow pencil that I like less. The color on it is a little warm-toned for my liking. I’ve been using that one up during times when I am working from home. I have saved the nyx one for work and activities outside the home when I want to wear something I think looks better.

An old favorite is my benefit hula bronzer. It’s a sample size, so one would have thought I’d hit pan by now, and it always looks like I will at any moment. One thing is that I began using a fluffier and larger brush, so I think I am no longer wearing away just a targeted section of product. But that upper right-hand corner is super thin, so maybe next month? I keep saying that.

For a product I haven’t used in a while, I have chosen the blue eyeliner. My goal is to use it past the L’oreal wording. I can no longer see the last “L” so progress is being made. I just had to toss a teal eyeliner of the same type for having gone bad. So, I am glad to have chosen to work on this a bit.

And, as I mentioned, a product of my choosing is the it cosmetics cc creams. I can’t really mark them. I’ll concentrate first on the smallest one, as that’s the one I’ve already opened. I think that’ll easily be gone before next month’s update. I don’t think I’ll easily be able to track progress visually, so the larger item is 21 grams, I’ll weigh it to keep track.

That leaves me one more prompt and product to roll in this month. My prompt is

9. A product from a previous project.

Since I am rolling out a powder, I decided to roll in another powder. It’s my AOA studios setting powder. The lowest marking line is where it sits currently, so there’s not a ton in there. It is certainly not my favorite powder by any stretch of the imagination, so I’ll be happy to get it used up and out of my collection. Once that’s gone, that’ll leave me with only one setting powder left in my collection, no backups to be had. I am rather excited about that because it means in a few months, I’ll get to choose something to try next rather than going back to my collection repeatedly.

Since I am starting to experience a bit of a rolling of products now, after a rather slow start, I have been taking a look at the prompts. To be honest, some of them are rather difficult and I’ll have to get a bit creative. Even though I am not choosing my prompts roulette style, I can’t really plan far ahead, since I don’t really know when various products in the project currently will be finished up. In any case, I am pleased with the project pan work on makeup this month, and am eager to continue using the products currently in rotation during the upcoming month.

Protect Your Meatsuit Project Pan Update 5

Nothing finished this month, but I am hopeful for next month.

Last month:

img_3602

This month:

img_3856

Just steady progress all across the board.

I think my plan this month is to really concentrate on the elemis enzyme peel facemask. I plan to use it in lieu of a regular resurfacing serum to finally work through it. I am not certain what I’ll roll in after, but it would be nice to have this one finished up and out of my collection.

Not the most interesting update, in fact, I don’t really have anything to say about these items individually. Just slow and steady progress.
