It’s been some time since I’ve done any sort of update that wasn’t makeup or project pan related. And the reality is that this has everything to do with not crafting much at all. There are full weeks that go by without any knitting or spinning done at all. Many days are just busy, but I am also playing a lot of a video game instead as well. It’s kind of funny because back when I started knitting obsessively, I had decided to stop playing video games because at the end of the day I didn’t have anything to show for it. At least, in my mind, my creativity with knitting had a tangible object at the end of it. And so it’s been for 14 solid years. If it wasn’t knitting, it was spinning, processing fleece, dyeing yarn and fiber, sometimes even weaving, but always with the tangible item at the end.
The reality is that I am often overloaded with tangible items. They go to charity fundraisers and family and friends and still I have more tangible items than I need.
I have found that the current state of the world means that I just don’t have the energy to even think of what I might knit next. My brain is fried and even trying to find a pattern or read it or even download it is too much. So, I am back to video games and quite frankly, I could not care less about having a tangible item at the end.
In any case, today I do have a tangible item. Back at easter time I dyed some grey locks from a fleece I had processed with leftover easter egg dye. I didn’t do a fantastic job really, many of the locks were really muted in the end and I really would have done well to heat them higher with a longer period of soaking. But, at the same time, I had a cousin over and we were getting ready to go to the dog park and I really didn’t care.
I began flick carding those locks pretty soon after I dyed them but the project has sat in my living room unfinished ever since.
This morning we got a break in the heat. I am extremely sick of looking at that project unfinished in my living room. So, I sat outside and worked on it:

Oh yes, while outside I was also blocking a project I finally finished, more to come on that once it’s dry!
Out with me is our current foster dog. Poor gal is about a week into her forced kennel rest after heartworm treatment and she’s pretty miserable. There’s a ton o f whining and crying and not much at all of fun for her. She finds that even in the kennel she wants to be where the people and dogs are. We’d let her rest on the couch without the kennel as we did with our previous foster, but she doesn’t know the word rest outside the kennel. She’s young and extremely active and we can’t risk complications by letting her roam free and play. So we are all a little miserable during this time. Her bored and us sick of the whining and crying. In fact, the whole family is ready for a bit of a foster break after this darling finds her new home next month. Anyhow, point being, we just brought her entire kennel out to the patio so she could have a change of scenery while I worked on my project.

We did this last night while cooking too, just brought the entire kennel to the dining room so she could watch us cook. This little darling is a fantastic dog, active and fun and playful. Which means that it’s all the harder for her to be calm and makes me feel all the more guilty for forcing it even though it’s what is best for her.
In any case, I did finish the project! So I grabbed a shot of all my rolags from the project together.

Do I have any clue what these will be and how I will spin them and when? Nope, I do not. But, they can go back in the craft room and no longer live half done in my living room after 5 months of hanging out there and me working around them or trying to ignore them.
That’s it for today. It’s end of the month so it’ll be a fresh lot of makeup and project pan related posts shortly but somewhere in there I’ll also be able to post one precious finished object which feels like it’ll be the last for a long time. But who knows, perhaps my whims will switch again.
