Partners in Cream Project Pan Update #8

I am so pleased with how far I’ve gotten with my partners in cream project pan this month! While I did not finish any items, I’ve made good progress on each one. It’s felt very steady over this past month. Here’s last month’s photo:

I had intended to cut open the cc cream and finish it off in the first week, which I did. Since I knew it would be done shortly, I preemptively added the little perfume rollerball which was completely full.

Here’s my progress this month:

The product I am most proud of is the born this way foundation. The color only suits me when I am at my most tanned. I’d been using it as a mixer for this summer but I am now at a point where I can just use it alone. No mixing. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold out on that, it completely depends on how warm it stays and for how long and also how much opportunity I have to stay outside. But, this is the most progress I’ve had in a year so I am thrilled with it and eager to get as much use as possible in the upcoming month. Once I can no longer wear it alone, I’ll use it as a mixer as I lighten back up for the winter. I would genuinely LOVE to finish it up this year but I suspect that won’t be possible.

The next best progress is the No Poreblem primer. I made more progress on this than in past months. The line is a bit deceiving as I no longer can use the pump. I have to scrape it out bit by bit.

Steady progress only on the setting spray.

The clarins sunscreen has seen great progress as well. I’ve stopped using it only for my face as my skin does not react well to it. I use it for my face sometimes but also regularly use it for my tattoo. I do believe I’ll finish up this product this year even if it isn’t quick.

And finally the Tocca Maya perfume rollerball-I made steady progress and I’ve used it exclusively. If I do so again for another month I should be done and I can choose something else to roll in.

So, next month I think I’ll be able to roll in another product or two. Depending on the weather, I may be back to using cream makeup products again, which I think would be fun! Next post should be a beauty balance post, and since I did finish quite a few items, I am rather excited to post and get them into the recycle bin.

Eyeshadow Roulette Project Update

Time to update my eyeshadow roulette project, and I am going to tell you right away that I am still just loving this challenge. Here’s the swatch photo from last month:

My goal is to hit pan on these or to use each 30 times before rolling the color out and randomly choosing another. Let’s discuss the colors:

At the top is Urban Decay Big Sky from the born to run palette. I finished my 30 uses and got a rather significant dip in the shadow.

Below that is a christmas palette from Too Faced, and I was also able to finish my 30 uses of that color.

Then there’s a lovely copper shimmer color from Nyx, it’s a single. As of today, I’ve used it 19 times.

Below that is another Nyx single, the pink shimmer color. I’ve used that 14 times.

And then from the nyx happy birthday palette, another copper shimmer, this one I’ve used 11 times so far.

I rolled in Violet Voss Sugar Crystals palette, color Mint Choco. Used only 4 times so far, which is no surprise, it’s a rather bold color to try to incorporate with so many neutrals.

I then needed to roll in two new colors since I had 2 completed goals. Here’s the swatch now:

The two new colors are at the bottom. The first is Violet Voss Sugar Crystals Sherbet. It’s supposed to be an orangy light shimmer but it kind of just comes across as light. I have used this 2 times in the past month.

And, finally, Urban Decay Born To Run Palette makes another appearance, the color is Double Life. It’s a darker coppery shimmer than all the other coppery shimmers currently in this project, and it seems like it may be a duochrome. It’s a copper shimmer on a blackened base. The thing is, while it applies quite dark to the eyelid, it doesn’t stay dark, it seems to lighten up throughout the day, making it quite wearable. I like the color and it performs a lot better than the Big Sky color previously in the project which is only technically suitable as a liner shade.

Changes to “rules” this time is that I am officially going to only roll in Born to Run palette colors in a random fashion until I hit pan on one of the born to run shadows. Then I’ll roll it back out and concentrate on something else.

And here’s a shot of the pans of the shadows I am using. First of all, I circled in blue the one rolling out so that you can see the nice dip I have going in there. To be honest, If I really want to hit pan on this palette, continuing to concentrate on that color would probably do the trick. But at the same time, I rather want to actually use this palette for a bit. In December I’ll have had it for 2 years and really not used it often at all!

You can see that the two singles sitting on the colorful palette have nice dips in them already. These are the two nyx singles. I also have a rather solid dip in the color in the nyx palette. I’ve been concentrating on expanding my bonus pan in that palette as well as using the mattes in that palette and I am rather hopeful I’ll hit pan prior to 30 uses. We’ll see!

I’ll be predominately concentrating on the nyx shadows this month to see if I can get them rolled out and more of the born to run colors rolled in. I’ll try to use the super bright Violet Voss colors 4 more times this month if possible. I guess if I were to use Sherbet as an inner corner highlight I could get more than 4 uses, but I’ve got another color I am trying to pan that works best as an inner corner highlight as well.

In any case, I’ve again enjoyed this project for another month and am eager to continue. While there’s part of me that feels many of my palettes are neglected in my collection, that same part of me realizes that’s exactly why I shouldn’t purchase more eyeshadow palettes, and that’s exactly what I hoped for. So, I am continuing on this fun little journey of eyeshadow roulette and looking forward to the upcoming month, rolling out shadows, and concentrating on my born to run palette.

Protect Your Meatsuit project pan update 8

Before I get too far into this, I’ll tell you right off the bat, this particular project is drawing to a close. A few more months and I’ll likely just be done with it. I am not going to keep rolling items in. I just don’t feel like I have enough backups in my life to need to keep rolling items in. And that’s really the goal in the first place!

Here’s the photo from last month:

I had finished two items and rolled two more in. Now here’s where I am this month:

The shower gel is really getting close to being finished. I feel positive it will be gone by next month’s update. I have to turn it upside down to get the product out of the container now. I have very much enjoyed using this for the past 8 months and am glad i had the opportunity to try it.

The elemis face mask I did not mark a new line on because I might have used this once in the past month. I think since my return to full time on campus work I have just not given myself the time to do face masks. Quite frankly, our state and our surrounding states aren’t doing all that well and I have a suspicion we may return to some form of partly remote work again, so I may do a little better with this in the upcoming month. I really would like to finish this one up!

The cleanser made steady progress, I may finish this month, and if not this month, I’ll finish next month.

While I’ve been using the toner every morning, I did not see enough use to mark it on the container, so I did not do so. Maybe next month!

And finally, the hair product. I used 9 grams of it, and that’s maybe only 2 uses. I have decided to declutter this item and give it to my daughter.

And with that, I am telling you that I am not rolling anything new in to replace the declutter. If I happen to find something to roll in between now and next month’s update, I will add it. Otherwise, I plan to let this particular project expire. I’ll keep working on it until I’ve only got an item or two, and then I’ll call it quits. But I don’t see a big point in continuing it now, I just don’t have a lot of extra body care and hair care items laying around that need to be used up! And that’s a very good thing.

Rolling Project Pan Update 8

While I am a bit late in posting my update this month, I am still on a roll with my projects. As a reminder, this is one where I am using prompts to choose products. And I am trying to keep this one primarily makeup related. As I am working through the prompts, I am listing them and then crossing off the ones I have completed or made a goal on.

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing
9. A product from a previous project.
10. A unique product
11. A product you don’t like

And here’s the photo from last month:

I rolled out the hourglass powder and rolled in the white eyeliner from colourpop.

Here’s where I am now:

A product I haven’t used in a while was my blue silkissimee L’Oreal liner, and I had the goal to use it past the L’Oreal brand name. I knew I’d have it done this month as I was so close last month. Indeed, I was technically finished a week later though I continued to use it all month.

A product I didn’t like was the white colourpop eyeliner. I never thought it worked well, and despite it being quite new to my collection, it dried out, cracked, and bits of it kept breaking off and falling on my floor, or one time in my coffee, which I only found after I finished drinking my coffee. This is finished because probably after 3 uses the last bit broke off and fell on the floor. The three uses I had done had frustrated me completely anyhow. So I was not sorry that happened.

A drugstore product is my nyx eyebrow pencil which I am still using almost daily and working my way through. I have little to say about this other than I bet I’ll still be working on this well into the new year.

A product of my choosing was my it cosmetics cc cream. Despite having worked on finishing my matte cc cream at the beginning of the month, I did manage to get a good amount of this used. I am hoping that this month will be the final push on this one and I’ll finish it up so I can roll in something new next month.

An old favorite is the sample of benefit hula bronzer. While I realize that it doesn’t look like I really made any sort of dent in this, I have been using it consistently. I just decided to concentrate my brush on areas that did not have pan already.

My unique product is my little pan of frankenhighlight I created myself. It’s crumbly now, and I wasn’t able to finish because using this as a face highlight is too light for my skin in deep summer. I’ve been using it as an inner corner highlight but that’s slow going!

And with that, I get to roll in two new items.

12. A product you bought online.

The question is, what product didn’t I buy online? The vast majority of my makeup collecting has been online purchases. So, this prompt left me a ton of freedom. So I chose an Urban Decay eyeliner color starfire. It’s a travel size liner and I chose it because my eyeshadow project currently has a ton of coppery shimmers in it. This is a nice subtle way to tie in all those coppery colors. My goal is to work down to the 24 on the label.

13. A product you received as a gift.

I am fairly certain that there’s only one product I’ve ever received as a gift and that’s my Urban Decay Born to Run palette. So I’ve rolled it in. It’s been a goal this year to use this palette more, so I am not at all sad about this. My goal here is to hit pan on something in this palette. In reality, the closest I am to that in ANY shade is Big Sky, the blue that was in my eyeshadow project. While some colors in this palette are misses, by and large, I really like this palette. I plan to concentrate my usage for my eyeshadow roulette challenge on this palette as well. 30 uses of a few colors should help me hit pan, ideally before the end of the year.

So, that’s a wrap for another month. It’s nice that the two items I rolled out were balanced, one a longer term goal and the other short term. I am still enjoying this limited makeup project pan. I like that I can explore various items within my collection while also concentrating on a few select items to make use of them or use them up. It’s a nice balance I am enjoying very much!

Eyeshadow Roulette Project Update

Generally I attempt to get my eyeshadow roulette project post up on the 5th of the month. I did not do so this month, but I did take a snapshot of my notebook where I record usage to make sure at least that was accurate.

Here’s the color scheme I began with last month.

I’d had high hopes for this color palette, the blue in particular. Sadly, it did not perform well at all on my eyelids. When used as a shimmer all over the lid, it creased terribly and wore off. Also, the top matte shade developed pan about two days after this photo was taken, so I didn’t keep using it much after. Here’s the photo of the pans of each of these colors:

Urban Decay Big Sky (the blue) has a nice dip in it despite the fact that it won’t be used as a lid color. I am using it as an eyeliner when I can, and I now have 22 uses.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Georgia has a bit of a dip in it, and I was able to do a full 30 uses and rotate it out.

Revlon Maverick palette I hit pan 2 days after posting, so that got rotated out.

Colourpop Bye Bye Birdie palette I had both Heron Chic and Nevermore to work on. I managed to get my 30 uses on both and that palette is rotated out.

My Too Faced christmas palette color Make a Wish is starting to see a dip. I currently have 25 uses on this one so I will be able to finish in the upcoming month.

I did not achieve any “bonus” pans either this month, which is fine!

So, I pulled in new colors to keep with my 6 colors. And in the end, I pulled 3 nyx colors. One of which is in a palette I already had in this challenge. It’s the NYX happy birthday palette and I’d achieved 2 bonus pans during the time it was in the challenge previously. I love that I’ll keep working on the palette and get more use out of it.

Here’s the swatch photo:

The only matte here is the green at the bottom. That’s Violet Voss Sugar Crystals Palette (another I’ve already explored in this challenge!) color Mint Choco.

In any case, let’s ATTEMPT to be more organized. From top to bottom, the first two are the two still in from last month. Urban Decay Born To Run palette color Big Sky and the Too Faced christmas palette color Make a Wish.

Below those two is a Nyx copper shimmer color from an advent calendar. It’s a single. And then a nyx shimmer that is pink, it’s from the same advent calendar and is also a single.

And below that is another coppery nyx color from the happy birthday palette.

Ultimately while I’ll need to draw in mattes from elsewhere, this looks like a fairly cohesive color story and I will not have too much trouble working on it this month. I worry about the mint green but I’ll experiment with an “ice cream eye” look using the nyx singles as well.

Here’s what the pans are looking like:

These are just the rolled in colors as I took photos above of the other two palettes.

In the past I’d gone from trying to create pan in each color to just trying to get 30 uses or pan, whichever came first. Depending on where I am next month, I may try to give myself a new rule or two. The first may be that if I roll in a new palette, the next color I choose is also from that palette. Trying to juggle multiple palettes in the morning can be a bit daunting. Since I chose two singles this month I didn’t implement this rule yet. I may also keep rolling until I get a palette I haven’t used yet, as my usage on just two palettes is pretty heavy now, with little use on the other items in my collection. But at the moment, these are just ideas I am throwing around in my head, I am not implementing them yet!

Partners in Cream Project Pan Update 7

This is the official date that I am supposed to post this update, so I’ve managed to get this one post up in time even though I’ve been a little lax about posting lately.

Just a recap, Partners in Cream project pan attempts to use up cream products in our collections since they go off faster than power products. Truthfully, I think this would be best suited for cream makeup products, but that’s not really going to work for my climate and skin during the summer. I’ll ease back into panning cream makeup products when the weather cools.

Here’s where I was last month:

I’d finished the two little perfume samples and the Becca primer. I’d added in the born this way foundation on the right hand side.

Here’s this month’s update:

With my It cosmetics cc cream (the matte version) you can see that I have worked through everything I can that will come out of the pump. This morning I cut this open and I am sure I’ll be done by the end of the week, so I am adding another item.

More progress on my facial spray. It’s very consistent use right now, I seem to use up about the same every time.

I have made no progress on the Born This Way foundation, I used it once or twice last month. I will concentrate on this with the cc cream being done.

No Poreblem primer, I’ve had another month of consistent use on it as well. I have been concentrating on this solely now that the Becca one is gone. At the beginning of this process I would not have said that I particularly like this primer but honestly it’s really grown on me. It’s good, I am enjoying using it.

My Clarins sunscreen has seen a bit of use but not a ton. I think I can do better this month! So that’s my goal. Increase the use on this product.

And, I’ve added a small rollerball perfume sample, it’s Tocca Maya. I like this one a lot and it is a reasonably summery fragrance. I’d like to finish this up! It’s completely full currently.

It’s always lovely to finish a product (even though I am not technically finished, close enough to call it done) when working through a number of longer term products. I maintain that the matte cc cream has served me very well this year, stuck nicely to my nose for the majority of the day with minimal touching up despite heavy mask use. I hope that there’s a time where mask use won’t factor into my makeup decisions anymore, but now is not that time!

Protect Your Meatsuit Project Pan Update 7

And on with the second project pan update that falls on the first of the month. This one is all skincare/haircare/bodycare items. Last month I was unable to roll anything new in, and it felt like it had been a very long time since I’d rolled in anything new. Here’s where I was:

img_4112

I am very pleased to report that I’ve finished both the ouai leave in conditioner and the Elemis Papaya enzyme peel face mask. So, I get to roll in two new products this month. Here’s my photo for this month:

img_4665

I didn’t get a whole heck of a lot finished of the shower gel but I love it so much, and it feels like I am ok with slowing down on this one, savoring the last bit.

The other elemis face mask is the one I will concentrate on now that the enzyme peel is finished. I did not get much at all worked through on it.

My exfolikate cleanser is now the only one I am using, so I think I’ll make great progress on this one before next month. Who knows, might even be finished!

Then there’s two products to roll in. First is my living proof styling cream. I got this in a subscription box some time ago now, and it’s not really the type of thing I use in my daily routine. Progress on this may be slow. I have already been using it here and there. I could not mark the bottle, but I weighed it, it currently weighs 99 grams.

Then there’s my Thayers witch hazel toner. This is not something I’ll purchase again, and it’s been languishing in my stash for too long now. I would like to work through it for the remainder of this summer so that I can move on and not have it cluttering up my bathroom closet. The paper label is great for marking progress though!

This month is a month that proves again that if I just keep concentrating on the same items repeatedly they do get used up in due time. So, now I’ll just hope I can finish up another product or two in the next month.

Rolling Project Pan Update 7

We are now through 7 months of my rolling project pan and I am still enjoying it quite a bit. I still love that I am concentrating on just 6 makeup items at once and allowing myself to explore other parts of my collection in the mornings. I may do another full face project someday, but this year it’s been nice to roll through 6 at a time. 6ish I suppose, since I sometimes add makeup items to my partners in cream project pan.

The list as of last month:

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing
9. A product from a previous project.
10. A Unique product

And the photo of where I was last month:

img_4101

I had added the little pan of frankenhighlight after finishing up some setting powder. Other than that, nothing new rolled in or out. Here’s my photo for today:

img_4657

Sorry about the weird shadow!

I met my goal on my expensive product! My hourglass dim light powder finally has pan. It’s a waffle pan, and I am thrilled to have gotten there.

My drugstore product is my nyx eyebrow pencil. I have used it a bit but not a ton. I hope to make better progress in this upcoming month.

An old favorite-this is my benefit hula bronzer sample. I’ve expanded the pan a tiny bit, but I’ve actually been concentrating on wearing down the pan in the area it is the thickest rather than expanding the pan. The expanded pan was just a bonus.

A product I haven’t used in a while is my blue L’oreal liner, and my goal was to use it past the L’Oreal branding. While it’s hard to see in the photo, I can still see the long part of the “L” so this stays in my project for another month. I am positive I’ll be done after that.

A product of my choosing is my it cosmetics cc cream, and I did mark this one with a pink line. I think I will have this done by next month, I’ve been hitting it pretty hard. But I do also have 3 foundations in my project right now. I will concentrate on one other, then I will concentrate on this one.

And my unique product is my frankenhighlight from my very first ever depotting experience and my first ever experience trying to combine things I didn’t like to get something I did like. The pan is massively expanded. I’ve used it as a highlighter but mostly I use it as an inner corner highlight when putting on eyeshadow. I am hoping to finish this up by next month as well. But I am not certain I can do so at the rate I am using it currently.

So, that leaves one item I can roll in under a new prompt. The prompt is “A product you don’t like” and it was a very easy choice. I like the vast majority of my makeup collection right now! But I did purchase this white colourpop eyeliner that I just hate. Most of it has broken off in use and kind of flown across the room at different times during use. One piece landed in my coffee once, and I didn’t find it until I finished my coffee. The remaining piece I can’t even show you as it has broken off at the base so I have to be careful in using it, and careful not to drop it. There’s a limit to how much longer it will last, and hopefully, that limit will be about a month. We will see how it goes.

In any case, it’s been a pretty good month for panning and I am looking forward to being able to roll out a few more items next month. Maybe!

Partners in cream Project Pan update 6

In last month’s post, I didn’t truly finish anything up beyond a couple of perfume samples. And I ended up rolling in a couple more almost finished samples so I could take one more month to make a decision about what I wanted to pan next. Here’s the photo from last month.

img_3923

I had finished two perfume samples, not finished a third, and rolled in a fourth.

This month, I managed to finish all perfume samples plus the Becca First Light Primer.

img_4161

That leaves 3 items for updates. My It cosmetics matte cc cream has made so much progress that I can now see through the tube. In my experience, shortly I will be unable to use the pump anymore and will need to cut open the package. But, I also believe that finishing it from this point does take a good long time, probably about a month of use, and, I am a bit trying to savor this one for use when I am physically at work. That’ll be about 10 days total between now and the next update. So, this one might not be done before then.

Next up would be my Touch in Sol No Poreblem primer. I’ve really tried to concentrate on this one once the becca primer was done, but I don’t think I really made more progress than other months. That being said, steady progress is worthwhile progress as well, and progress remains pretty steady.

My rose facial spray is also in the steady progress category. I wasn’t sure it would be as I’ve been skipping this on the days I am physically at work. Instead I use a stronger holding setting spray because of mask use. This rose spray is really a seriously large amount, and I bet it takes another 6 months to finish this up.

So, I then needed to roll in two new items for this project. I have chosen a clarins facial sunscreen. I want to get this used up as it’s almost a year old. But typically I leave it out of my routine as it’s not a favorite of mine. I need to concentrate on it so I can get it finished up.

Then, I’ve got my two faced born this way foundation. This is typically too dark on me, and remains so now. I’ve used it to darken various foundations before. And last year I tried to pan it toward the end of the summer after finishing up a too dark mac foundation, but you can see on the two progress lines that I didn’t get very far. The progress remains at the bottom line, and since I don’t have a darker shade to work on, I genuinely do believe I can get this one worked through this year if I concentrate on it. I’ll lighten it a bit until I spend more time outside (soon) and then maybe even be able to use it full on for a bit. I’ll be extremely pleased to get this one used up if I can!

All in all a successful and steady progress type of update. Just like I prefer them! Looking forward to continued steady progress over the upcoming month, and trying not to stress about the fact that I currently have 3 foundations in various projects right now!

Pan Those Eyeshadows Update 3

My roulette style eyeshadow panning project continues on with considerable progress. I made some changes last month that really worked for me. Last month I decided that I’d work on an eyeshadow for 30 uses or hitting pan, whichever came first. Unsurprisingly, since overall, makeup is still something fairly new to my life, I am generally needing to get to the entire 30 uses as I am not hitting pan before that.

I have really enjoyed the project this month, I love that it keeps me both focused and creative, thinking of new ways to wear these eyeshadows. Here’s the swatch color scheme I was working with over the past month:

img_3866

I ended up finishing my 30 uses of both of the top two swatches. Here’s what the palettes look like now:

img_4131

I’ve circled the shadows that were actually in the project. A considerable dip was made in both of them, though pan was not hit. However, I did hit surprise pan in two shadows in the Nyx birthday palette. Prior to this challenge, neither of those shadows had pan showing. So, really, while I didn’t hit pan on the shadows I brought in to the project, two pans were hit anyhow.

Working my way down the swatch, the third color is Colourpor Bye Bye Birdie palette, color Nevermore. So far in this project I have used it 17 times. Only 13 uses left until I can roll it out.

The fourth color is the same palette, color Heron Chic. This one I’ve used 21 times, only 9 uses left.

Below that we have my Too Faced christmas palette, the color is Make a Wish. I’ve used this one only 9 times, so the 21 times I need to finish this isn’t likely to happen in the upcoming month!

And finally, the sixth color is from the Revlon Maverick palette, and I’ve used it 17 times. I actually think it’s possible I’ll hit pan on that one prior to my 30 uses, it’s very powdery.

Since I rolled out two shadows, I had the opportunity to roll in two more. My roulette app chose my Urban Decay Born to Run palette, color Big Sky, and Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, color Georgia.

Here’s the swatches:

img_4099

The almost invisible color is Sweet Peach Georgia and the last color is Big Sky from Born to Run. I am so excited about the pop of blue, and I am excited to try pairing it with the magenta Heron Chic color. I think that might make for a very nice look and a great way to get use out of both colors at once.

Sweet Peach Georgia might be finished this month as well, as I can use it as a transition shade with each and every look.

img_4132

I’ve circled each of the 6 colors in the photo above. My focus will be finishing up Heron Chic, then finishingup Nevermore, ideally rolling that entire palette out next month. I do think I can manage to complete both of those, though it might be a bit of a push. I am anticipating that Georgia and the matte color from the Revlon Maverick palette might get pan in them prior to the end of the month as well. as I’ve already got good dips in both.

I really cannot stress enough how enjoyable I’ve found this little project of mine. I eagerly work through my shadows and every time I look at a new palette I want, I weigh that want against my desire to work through my shadows roulette style. And the new thing generally comes up as something I would pass on since I likely wouldn’t roll it in quickly. I don’t know how long this motivation will last, but I am extremely pleased with it right now, and that’s more than I could hope for. Can’t wait to update again next month!

Rolling Project Pan Update 6

It’s headed toward the first of the month, so it’s time for the first of my two beginning of the month project pan updates. Let’s start with the makeup one! This is the one in which I use prompts to choose the products I try to pan or meet goals on. Prompts and last month’s photo below.

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing
9. A product from a previous project.

img_3862

I was close enough to done with the pretty vulgar powder to call it done, and I added the AOA studios powder as my product from a previous project.

This month’s photo:

img_4101

An expensive product is my attempt to hit pan on my hourglass dim light powder, still hasn’t happened.

A drugstore product is my NYX eyebrow pencil which I am making progress on, but it’s slow going. I may have explained in the last post that I am using this simultaneously with another brow pencil that I like less. I generally use the one I like less when I am spending the day at home and saving this one for when I am going to work. But, progress is being made!

An old favorite is my benefit hula bronzer, and I FINALLY hit pan! My goal is to use this up, and I am positive it’ll take all year. I am not going to concentrate on increasing the pan this upcoming month, instead, I plan to start concentrating my brush on the other side so it wears a bit more evenly. Hitting pan really did help my motivation though, I’ve been waiting on that pan for at least two months.

A product I haven’t used in a while is my L’Oreal silkissimee liner in blue. My goal on this one was to use it past the “L’Oreal” text, and it currently says “L’OrI” so that’s some good progress too! I’ve been super happy with this color as it pairs beautifully with the pinks and reds that are in my current eyeshadow project.

A product of my choosing was the it cosmetics cc cream. This is such an odd one to me, as I’ve used the illuminating and matte versions and both match me well in color light, but this one looks too yellow. I’ve kind of been saving it for at home days. I finished up the tiny sample, and only have the travel sized version left. I have used the travel size once.

My product from a previous project was the AOA studios powder and I finished that up pretty easily as well! So, I get to roll in another prompt and product.

10. A Unique product-for this I am choosing my last pan of “frankenhighlight.” I made this out of a cruddy eyeshadow palette and some really white sparkly loose highlighter. I had a total of 3 pans and I’ve used up the other two. I’d like to move this one out of my collection as well. This is best used as an inner corner highlight but can also be used on my cheeks. I already have pan on it, and it’s pretty loosely pressed overall. I think I can get this used up in a month or two.

I had been really struggling to see any movement at all on this project 2 months ago. In two months, enough movement to keep me inspired! If I am lucky I’ll be able to choose one more prompt next month, and that’s absolutely what I’ll be working toward.

Partners in Cream project pan update 5

My Partners in cream project pan should have been updated yesterday but I did not get around to it. I figured I’d get a final day of use in by postponing until today, but I ended up not wearing makeup at all. So, here we are. Last month:

img_3652

In the last update I’d been making good enough progress even though I wasn’t wearing a ton of makeup in general. This month I wore makeup a lot. I just…decided I was going to wear it to feel awake and alive and good. And, I was in the office more than I had been previously.

Here’s this month:

img_3923

I made great progress on my cc cream. Really good dent in it. And, now that I’ve been outside more, this is a great color as is, I don’t have to mix with a lighter foundation to get a proper color match. I suspect I’ll be done within the next two months here.

My Becca first light primer is also seeing a nice amount of use, I will certainly be able to finish this up in the upcoming month. I’ll roll in another primer once this one is gone.

My No Poreblem primer has seen a little less use than the becca one, but I am still making progress.

Nice amount od progress on my Rose facial spray!

And then, I’d rolled in 3 perfume samples last month. I finished two of them, the third I am close to being done with, and I added in a fourth which is a Jo Malone fragrance. I mostly did this because I wasn’t entirely sure what to roll in next. I figured another month working on sample fragrances would buy me the time I need to decide on a new product next month.

So, if all goes well, I’ll have at least two new items to roll in next month, and possibly three depending on where I am with that cc cream. I feel very good about this month’s update!

Rolling Project Pan Update 5

This is my project pan where I use various prompts to help me choose my products. Here’s what I was working with last month:

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.
8. A product of your choosing

img_3592

And this is where I was last month. I had rolled in the Bare Minerals pro powder foundation thinking that I’d wear powder foundation to work under my mask. That’s not exactly what happened. What I found works best for me is to wear regular foundation set well around my chin, nose, and cheeks with setting powder. That lasts with no touch-ups between mask wearing for half the day. Then, when touch-ups are actually necessary, I use the bare minerals pro foundation to touch up, covering the slightly spotty worn off areas between mask-wearing.

As such, I am rolling that item back out, keeping my prompt, and rolling in something new for that prompt. That item is two sample/travel size It cosmetics your skin but better cc creams.

img_3862

Here’s where I am currently. For a product with cute packaging, the pretty vulgar setting powder is almost gone. I am going to finish it this month. As such, my plan is to roll something new in this time around and consider this complete. You’ll see it in my empties.

An expensive product is my hourglass dim light powder, which I desire to hit pan on. I have not yet done so. This is a lot of product, I’ve been using this regularly all year and I have not hit pan. I used it regularly in the past 2 years as well and did not hit pan. So, I’d say that while it is an expensive product, it packs a punch in the amount of product.

A Drugstore product is my NYX eyebrow pencil. I am making progress bit by bit. However, progress has slowed a bit on it. This is because I have another eyebrow pencil that I like less. The color on it is a little warm-toned for my liking. I’ve been using that one up during times when I am working from home. I have saved the nyx one for work and activities outside the home when I want to wear something I think looks better.

An old favorite is my benefit hula bronzer. It’s a sample size, so one would have thought I’d hit pan by now, and it always looks like I will at any moment. One thing is that I began using a fluffier and larger brush, so I think I am no longer wearing away just a targeted section of product. But that upper right-hand corner is super thin, so maybe next month? I keep saying that.

For a product I haven’t used in a while, I have chosen the blue eyeliner. My goal is to use it past the L’oreal wording. I can no longer see the last “L” so progress is being made. I just had to toss a teal eyeliner of the same type for having gone bad. So, I am glad to have chosen to work on this a bit.

And, as I mentioned, a product of my choosing is the it cosmetics cc creams. I can’t really mark them. I’ll concentrate first on the smallest one, as that’s the one I’ve already opened. I think that’ll easily be gone before next month’s update. I don’t think I’ll easily be able to track progress visually, so the larger item is 21 grams, I’ll weigh it to keep track.

That leaves me one more prompt and product to roll in this month. My prompt is

9. A product from a previous project.

Since I am rolling out a powder, I decided to roll in another powder. It’s my AOA studios setting powder. The lowest marking line is where it sits currently, so there’s not a ton in there. It is certainly not my favorite powder by any stretch of the imagination, so I’ll be happy to get it used up and out of my collection. Once that’s gone, that’ll leave me with only one setting powder left in my collection, no backups to be had. I am rather excited about that because it means in a few months, I’ll get to choose something to try next rather than going back to my collection repeatedly.

Since I am starting to experience a bit of a rolling of products now, after a rather slow start, I have been taking a look at the prompts. To be honest, some of them are rather difficult and I’ll have to get a bit creative. Even though I am not choosing my prompts roulette style, I can’t really plan far ahead, since I don’t really know when various products in the project currently will be finished up. In any case, I am pleased with the project pan work on makeup this month, and am eager to continue using the products currently in rotation during the upcoming month.

May Beauty Balance-One More!

I’ve spent some time reorganizing my vanity recently. And, in doing so, I decided that the one thing I do not need to keep anymore is nail polish. I just do not do my nails. I decided that on the special occasions I want my nails done, I’ll get them done at a salon. But, that’s like maybe once a year? Or less. This is just not something I need in my life. So, during my vanity reorganization, I choose to declutter all the nail polish items and give them to Miss Butterfly. She was happy to receive them.

In my last beauty balance post, I had 40 items leaving my collection over what entered into it. With the nail polish declutter I have 51 leaving.

img_3698

I am not going to go into any detail about these polishes. I like all of them, they are all pretty, I like wearing them. But I don’t paint my nails and I haven’t in more than a year. When I first started using makeup in 2018, I did paint my nails frequently. But, I just don’t like doing it that much. It’s not a creative thrill.

I do have to actually do a little balance though, as I picked up some hair products in the ulta hair event. I also picked up a blush.

img_3700

Some of the hair items were freebies and some I purchased fair and square but half price. I was running out of many items and my hope during the hair events is always to purchase what I need to get me through the next hair event. So, I hope I have done so, though there’s one more day in which I’ll pick up some powder texturizer, I just need to wait for the sale.

Miss Butterfly and I also spent a little time discussing what drugstore brand we might like to explore a few items from. We decided Milani was on our list, and so this time I picked up the iconic Milani Luminoso blush. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

This brings me back down to 44 items leaving my collection over what entered it. And that’s where we stand for May. I’ll be back with another post after June 10 and my project pan posts are up.

Pan Those Eyeshadows Roulette Update 1

It was one month ago that I randomly chose 6 eyeshadows from my entire collection to attempt to hit pan in. The rule, use each eyeshadow until I hit pan, or accomplish 35 uses over 3 months.

The shadows that are in the project are the ones circled above, and also swatched.

Here’s the current breakdown. The very top greenish color from NYX happy birthday palette I used 8 times this month. The yellow-toned matte color from Sydney Grace, called token, I used 12 times this month.

NYX happy bday palette green-8 uses
Sydney Grace token-12 uses
Violet Voss Sugar Crystals-8 uses
Colourpop Bye Bye Birdie Color Nevermore-3 uses
Colourpop Bye Bye Birdie Color Heron Chic-4 uses
Too Faced Christmas palette Color Make a Wish-1 use

And here’s a photo of the current palettes. Except for the Too Faced palette. There’s no change, I used it once.

img_3626

Let’s start with the NYX Birthday palette first. That green is getting a slight dip but it doesn’t show on camera. But, what I did get was bonus pan! The lightest shimmer in that palette now has a solid pan in it. That was fun and unexpected! I suspect before I am done with this palette I may have pan in another shadow as well.

The lone pan not in a palette is the sydney grace shadow. I used this quite a lot mostly because I could use it with various looks as a transition color. It isn’t showing a dip, but when I began this project it was actually packed over the top of the pan. That’s not the case anymore.

I’ve been saving the two shadows in the Bye Bye Birdie palette for when I am returning to work. I consider them fairly wearable shades even if dramatic. So, I used them a few times but plan to concentrate on them more later.

Then there’s the Violet Voss palette. The sugar crystal color has a significant dip in it already. Now, it’s an easy shade to use. It is a highlight color that shifts blue. Very pretty. Makes a great inner corner color but also is a fantastic shadow topper. I used it once over the Heron Chic matte color and it was just so lovely! I’ve actually chosen to slow my roll with this shadow, as I don’t really want to hit pan so fast, and it’s looking like that could really happen soon. I predict this to be my first shadow in this project that does get pan in it.

I used the Too Faced make a wish shadow only once. Again, it makes for a very wearable color, and so I am saving it as well.

With all that being said, let’s talk about the look I ended up using the most this month. After some trial and error with the green shade from the nyx palette, I realized that while it looks shimmery and green in the pan, it doesn’t translate that way on the eyelid. It loses it’s shimmer, and honestly, I’d be hard pressed to call it green. So, the look I’ve settled on is the sydney grace matte color as a transition color, the Nyx green as a transition and outer corner color, and then the Nyx palette lightest shimmer, the one where I hit pan, all over the eyelid.

It ends up looking pretty nice. I think it’s likely that this is how I’ll get use out of the green color. I doubt that I’ll be able to come up with anything better than this.

Bonus knowledge today, if I really powder my nose well, I can use a mask and remove it a couple times without having to powder my nose again. I spent a few hours in the office this morning, with a mask on at various times, and my makeup stuck around pretty well.

Protect Your Meatsuit Project Pan update 4

One more beginning of the month project pan update. This one skincare related. Here’s where I was last month:

img_3379

I had added in the Kate Somerville Exfolikate cleanser and the Ouai leave-in conditioner. I had fully expected to be done with the clean biotic cleanser shortly after posting, but that didn’t happen. It lasted another full month, though I was also using the exfolikate cleanser too.

Here’s where I am now:

img_3602

Nice additional progress made on my shower gel. The clean biotic cleanser is done now, though I do plan to cut it open and dig out the last bits. You will see it in my next empties post. I used this along with the exfolikate cleanser, so a little progress was made there as well.

Perhaps my biggest progress was with the elemis vital veggie mask. It’s not my favorite mask, so it’s been a bit of a struggle to keep after it. I really did succeed this month. Unfortunately, that progress did not spill over on my elemis papaya enzyme mask. No progress made there. I did use it a bit, but I also was using other exfoliating products, like the cleanser in this very project, and I just didn’t want to overdo it.

And finally, a nice amount of progress on the leave-in conditioner. I like to say that I don’t really need a conditioner because my hair is so short. But, when you can’t get a haircut due to a virus, it pays to take care of the hair you’ve got I suppose.

I can’t roll anything new in this time around, and even if I could, I am not sure what I would roll in. So we’ve got another month of plugging away at these items to see where I end up. While much like my makeup project pan, I feel like I’ve chosen so many large items that I don’t get to do much rotating, I can say that I use them more consistently just by them being in a project, so there’s a win there. Though when looking back through my project here, I can see that I managed to use up 3 full size items (though they weren’t all full when they entered the project) and it’s only the beginning of May. Perhaps I am not doing so bad after all.

Rolling Project Pan Update 4

Here are the prompts I was working with along with the photo from last month.

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.img_3350

I am adding in a new prompt, number 8 is A product of your choosing. Here’s this month’s updated photo:

img_3592

My product with cute packaging is the pretty vulgar setting powder. Last month it was weighing in at 72 grams, this month it is at 70 grams. Since in the last update I only managed to use 1 gram, I have improved by using 2 grams.

My expensive product is the hourglass ambient lighting powder in dim light. My goal is to hit pan. I am still not there.

A drugstore product is my NYX eyebrow pencil. The goal here is to use it up. It is now starting to feel smaller when I use it, so I am making progress overall. But, quite frankly, during these stay at home times, I’ve been using a different brow pencil because the color has never been fantastic, and I figured I’d save the better pencil for when I am back at work.

A product I bought because of youtube is my CYO lifeproof foundation. I made no progress this month on it. I like this foundation. I like it very much. And it is no longer available. So, I don’t want to use it just to use it. I want to save it for a time when I can wear it to work. While my original goal was to use this foundation up, I did not calculate for weeks of working from home and then face mask wearing. As  such, I am rolling this out at this time. I’ll bring it back someday at a more appropriate time.

An old favorite is my benefit hula bronzer. It’s just a sample size. I felt certain I would hit pan on it this month. I’ve got a significant dip in the upper right hand corner. But I did not hit pan. So, maybe in this upcoming month.

A product I haven’t used in a while is my blue liner. The goal here is just to use it below the L’oreal mark, but I haven’t even begun wearing that off while sharpening. That being said, this is a great color to pair with berry toned eyeshadows, and I’ve been wearing a heck of a lot of berry toned eyeshadows lately.

Since I am rolling out one product, I need to roll a new one in. My new product, which is a product of my choosing, is bare minerals bare pro foundation. As you can see I’ve used it regularly anyhow, there’s major pan in this. And, I think that once I am back at work physically, which will be for part of the week next week, this will be a better solution for touching up after mask wearing than a liquid foundation.

I’ve made a project pan that really has struggled to move forward. Most of my products have been large use items, and I’ve only hit a goal on one product. Add in a bunch of time when I don’t really feel like putting makeup on at all, and it’s a struggle, much more than I expected it to be!

Partners in Cream Project Pan update #3

It’s April 10, and that means it is time for update 3 in my partners in cream project pan. Let’s start right off with the progress from last month:

img_3246I had finished the lipstick and one of the Becca primers and added in the face mist.

In March, I’d worked really hard to finish up the Bare Minerals primer, using my bare minerals foundation with it. I wore the foundation in my rolling project pan only a few times, working extra hard on the bare minerals primer since it was almost gone. I did finish! That was my only finish this month. Let’s move on to the photo and some decisions that need to be made.

img_3440

We got the news this week that we are now fully working from home for a bit, rather than one week in the office and one week working from home. I’ll go into that in more detail in a later post not related to makeup or project pan updates. But, I’ve decided to roll out the sleek cream contour palette at this time. I am still wearing makeup sometimes. I love doing it, I enjoy the creativity, and because it’s become so much a part of my morning routine, it makes me feel nice and awake. However, forcing cream contour into a routine when I am only staying at home just isn’t going to work for me. I’d rather save this for a time down the road when I am out and about again.

The bare minerals primer is gone, leaving the Becca primer, I made the tiniest bit of progress on that, and the face mist which is ALMOST gone. That means I need to roll a few things in.

I am starting with the replacement of my sleek cream contour palette. I am rolling in my It Cosmetics matte cc cream. It’s not my favorite formula in this line, I find I do prefer foundations with a little more glow. The added spf in this foundation will be great for when I walk the dogs on my lunch break, or sit outside on the patio in the afternoon (providing the weather warms) or when I go to the dog park right after work.

On the days I don’t want to wear that foundation, I might as well keep working on my powder foundation stash, so I am rolling in another primer that I think will work well with powder foundation. It’s the No Poreblem primer, and as you can see, I have had it in a previous project. This takes the place of the bare minerals primer.

The facial mist is so close to being done that I don’t want to wait a full month to start something new. I’ve decided to roll in another facial mist to take the place of the one I am close to being done with.

So that’s where we are with this 3rd project of mine. I feel good about one finish, and I am glad to not force myself to work through something I really don’t need, saving it for another time. I look forward to this project now, and seeing what happens through a month of working through home. (If it lasts a month. It will certainly last for the upcoming 2 weeks.)

Protect Your Meatsuit project pan update 3

I’ve been enjoying my progress on the protect your meatsuit project pan. While much of what I placed in here ends up being longer term items, I have managed to go through a few things.

Here are the photos of where I started, update 1, and at the bottom, update 2. I didn’t get it in the photo, but I finished up both the Manna Kadar body exfoliant and the Shea Moisture in shower conditioner. Neither of them I liked particularly well, so I am glad to have them moved out of my collection.

Here’s what I have going on now:

img_3379

Another chunk of product used in my sol de janero shower gel. I still love this and am happy I am getting a lot of use out of it. I think my daughter may be getting in and using it as I often forget to remove it from the shower. But, I’ve decided to let that go. I can’t remember everything all the time. Seems to be about the same amount of use this time as last time.

With a few days of working from home came a commitment to using my face masks more. I decided that I had to mask every day during that time period. This did not show up as a ton of use on my two elemis face masks, but I am glad to be getting as far as I am. I will likely have more work from home days coming up, and I’ll keep after these during that time frame.

I didn’t bother to try to mark my dr. Brandt cleanser as it’s basically just spurting now, there’s nothing to mark. So, I’ll finish it this month, but I am adding in one of the oldest cleansers in my cleanser stash. The Kate Somerville exfoliating cleanser. I really like this one, and I’d hate to see it go off.

And finally, a new product to officially bring me back to 5 working products at all time in this project, I am rolling in this leave in conditioner from ouai. I experimented with it last week, figuring on the days I am staying home it’ll be perfect for my purposes. But, turns out it leaves a little bit of grit to my hair, which is something that’ll come in handy when I am doing my hair for work. So, progress might be made faster than I’d been anticipating.

I have really enjoyed separating my makeup and skincare project pans this year. While I do have another project that combines the two, I feel like these are my main projects and the separation feels great. It’s just easier for me to manage than last year’s huge full face project pan. While most of this project is a little slow moving, it is a heck of a lot more progress than I would have been making without the associated project.

Rolling Project Pan update 3

Hello all! How’s your project pan work going? Is it similar to mine? Makeup getting a little less prominent in your daily routine?

Let’s take a look at what is going on for me. My current prompts are:

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.

Here’s last month’s photo and this month’s photo directly under, then I’ll go into more detail.

img_3233

img_3350

1: product with cute packaging is my pretty vulgar setting powder. Last month I was at 73 grams, this month at 72 so I was only able to use 1 gram.

2: An expensive product. This is my hourglass ambient lighting powder in dim light, and my intention is to hit pan then roll it out. I have not hit pan. If I look closely, there now seems to be a dip in the flattened dome, so maybe I am closer.

4: a drugstore product. That’s my NYX eyebrow pencil. I am getting a bit closer to the lettering, but haven’t hit it yet. I am using this almost exclusively, but it’s running slow. However, the pencil itself does feel shorter when I use it, so that makes me feel like I am making progress.

5: A product I bought because of youtube. My CYO lifeproof foundation was getting very little use this past month. In my attempts to use up a primer from my partners in cream project, I stopped using this foundation and used a powder foundation instead. Spoiler, still not done with the primer I wanted to finish. And now there’s working from home, where I am not using any makeup at all.

6: An old favorite. I am working on finishing my sample size of hula bronzer. I am seeing an actual serious dip in one side of the pan, and while it is difficult to see in the photos, I do see it in person and am expecting to hit pan toward one side within the next two months.

7: A product I haven’t used in a while. That’s my blue silkissime liner. I only want to use it past the “L’Oreal” mark toward the top of the pencil, but I haven’t gotten anywhere near the lettering yet.

So, since I still haven’t met any of my goals on the products in this project, I can’t roll anything new in. I will absolutely have to roll out the pretty vulgar powder as the weather heats up, it does not do enough oil control work during the warmer months. But I can use it for the upcoming month I believe. I am hoping to hit pan on the hourglass product soon so I can roll it out. And, I’d love to hit pan on the hula bronzer simply because it would help my motivation.

While progress has been very slow over the past month on this project, I can say that I’ve been forcing an uptick in my use of skincare. If I am working from home, I have given myself the rule that I must mask daily. I’ve got a wide variety of masks, so this works well, I can rotate my usage of them.

If we end up with a stay in place order (Hasn’t happened for our state and county yet) I will actually just put this project aside for the time being and resume when it’s time. We are currently “essential” but a stay order would keep me working from home unless things really go pear-shaped at the hospital, and even then, my boss and my peer working on the patient care side would have to both be sick for me to be called in. While I hope that our state can ride things out as we currently are, I don’t believe we can, and I think we are just behind the larger cities by a few days. We shall see how it plays out. We’ve worked out all contingency plans now, have one in place, and will get the other up and running if we have to.

Stay safe my friends, and do your part either by staying home or by being essential with appropriate precautions in place for your area.

Partners in Cream project pan update 2

In my first partners in cream project pan update:

img_3174

I had finished a face spray and removed a liquid shadow, adding in more primer and an almost used lipstick. I was also very close to finishing the pan of contour I was working on, and decided to keep the palette in the project, working on the darker contour next.

Here’s what is going on this month:

img_3246

The bare minerals primer is very close to being done now, in fact it is so close to being done that I’ve been wearing my bare minerals foundation more often in hopes of finishing this up. I am not there yet, but I feel pretty confident I can use it up by the next update.

The darker cream contour is going just fine, I am seeing more pan than before, and I love the product. Because I am wearing a powder foundation sometimes, I have been using this less. I hope to hit solid side pan in the upcoming month.

Of the becca primers, one is completely gone, and you can see that I made a bit of progress on the other as well.

The sample size of bite beauty lipstick is used up. I love the dark vampy color of this, and I am actually sad to see it go.

Because I finished one item, I am rolling in another facial spray, this one is Skin & Co. It was in a project pan last year, as you can see the previous marks. And I have been using it consistently. I suspect this will take me about 2 months to finish, if I consider previous usage.

This is one of those projects that is feeling pretty consistent. I am getting a few things used up while still having some longer term items as well. I am appreciating how that’s working out. In using one of those primer tubes, I gained a nice space in my collection. When I finish up the bare minerals primer, that’ll be another great spot in my collection. My collection, which blossomed in 2018 and stayed about the same all the way through 2019 is finally starting to reduce.

Protect Your Meatsuit project pan update 2

While I didn’t get to roll anything new in on my makeup project pan, I am doing so on this one. Though technically I didn’t finish anything in this one either!

img_3164

My items last month are above. You can see some of the markings on them, the starting point and the ending point. I had truly intended to have that tub of exfoliator done this month, but didn’t get to it. However, it’s so close to being done that I am adding something in place of it to work on in tandem. If I finish the tub in the next 10 days, you won’t even see it in the next update, as I’ll add it to my empties.

img_3234

Now, you can see a green line far below the original lines on my body wash. I had thought that I could leave it in my shower and hopefully no one would use it but me. It has become clear that this was NOT the case. In fact, it only got left in the shower daily for ONE WEEK before I noticed that someone in my family was gorging themselves on it. I now remove it daily. I imagine progress will go back to being quite slow now.

The elemis superfood mask has only the smallest amount of progress. I didn’t mark it since I hadn’t used it at the start, first update is a gold line, second a green line. So, not much use there.

But, I found a massive air bubble in my elemis chemical exfoliator so that’s showing a TON of progress.

My dr. Brandt face cleanser is moving right along, I think it’ll take me another 2 months to finish but steady progress is being made.

I did open the tub of body exfoliator this time, so you can see that I am on the very last dregs of it. I’ve actually been using this to exfoliate my hands well before using a good hand lotion lately. It’s starting to warm up a bit so this is less necessary than it was in the dead of winter. I may add it back to the shower.

And adding in the shea moisture in shower body conditioner. I don’t like this product much. I don’t think it does much. I don’t like the gentle coconut smell either. I won’t repurchase this. I’ve got a no packaging product from lush that works so much better for this purpose! So mainly I am hoping to concentrate on it, finish it up this month, and find something else to add in.

That’s it for this project. Partners in cream is the next project and that update is on the 10th of the month. I feel that I’ve made nice progress on that one so I am eager to show that off next weekend!

2020 Rolling Project Pan Update 2

Prompts:

1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite
7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.

Here are the last two months photos:

I had finished the bare minerals foundation and added the blue L’oreal liner.

I am going to grab a larger photo of last month here:

img_3163

That way we are better able to see the progress on both the pencils, since I am just making comparisons to where we were before in comparing it to the lettering. Here’s this month.

img_3233

I guess those can be hard to see anyhow! But I am getting a bit distracted, let’s start from the top.

A product with cute packaging was my Pretty Vulgar powder. At the beginning, the packaging weighed 80 grams. At update 1 it weighed 75 grams, and now I am at 73 grams.

An expensive product is my hourglass ambient lighting powder in dim light. I use this daily. It is a baked product, so domed in the pan. I had flattened it out. At this update, I can start to see a bit of a dip going on in the pan.

A drugstore product is my nyx eyebrow pencil. I had honestly expected this to be used faster. I’ve probably sharpened it only 3 times this month despite using it every day I wear makeup.

A product I bought because of youtube-this is my CYO lifeproof foundation and honestly? I have totally fallen in love with it. It sticks to my face beautifully and I really like how it looks. It is discontinued, and I gave my other container of it to Miss Butterfly since she needed something to use, but I am definitely sad I did. I will miss it. I believe that there’s a soap and glory foundation which is this repackaged, so maybe at the point I need a new foundation, probably years from  now at this point, I’ll consider picking that up.

An old favorite is my hula bronzer, this is a sample package. I use it every day I wear makeup but it isn’t disappearing fast by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, I can see a pretty decent dip on one side now so I am somewhat encouraged. It does occur to me, though, that most of what I’ve chosen to pan this year are rather long term products.

And finally, the product that I haven’t used in a while, that’s my cobalt blue l’oreal silkissime liner. I’ve used this quite a bit, close to daily on the days I wear makeup. My goal for this one is to use it up past the L’oreal marking, so not to use it up but to make some progress. It’ll be some time with this liner I think.

No finishes this month, and I doubt there’ll be any finishes for the next months to come. I gotta remember that on this one I am in it for the long haul. I do reserve the right to “give up” on products if I just can’t take anymore, but all of these items are items I like using. so remembering the long haul is a good idea.

Partners in Cream Project Pan

A project where I attempt to get use out of cream products since liquids and creams go off faster than powder. Here’s where I started:

img_3078

I easily finished up the wet n wild primer spray, it was no trouble at all to finish. So, I’ve chosen a product to replace that.

The ciate liquid shadow I had in this project to see if I wanted to declutter it. I don’t want to declutter it. In fact, I found that it worked very well for me as an eyeshadow topper particularly when a shimmer shadow I used was a bit too dark for my lids. I am happy to own this and happy to keep using it regularly. As such, I am rolling it out of this project.

The Bare Minerals primer saw a bit of use, and I have to really bend the package to get product out of it, but it is by no means gone yet. I use this once or twice a week, so not often at all. Maybe by next month I’ll be done.

As for the sleek makeup cream contour, I am working on the middle contour shade. I got a ton used up, want to see? I hope you can see even though there is a shadow on the pan:

img_3174

Just a tiny bit left now. I’ll continue to use this palette and leave it in the project, working on the darker shade next.

I am adding in both of my becca first light primers. One is so close to being done if it felt like cheating to add just that in. Plus, I love the product but have other travel sizes to use. I’d like to finish these up so I can free up two little spaces on my vanity. And, I am going to finally attempt to finish the bite beauty travel-size lipstick I was attempting to pan at the end of last year. I doubt it’ll take me long.

A pretty nice start for a first update with the likelihood of being done with the bare minerals and one of the becca primers and possibly the bite beauty lipstick too by the next update.

2020 Rolling Project Pan update 1

Last month I started a rolling project pan using specific prompts. My prompts to start the project were:

Prompts:
1.  A product with cute packaging
2.  An expensive product
3.  A product in loose form
4.  A drugstore product
5.  A product I bought because of youtube
6.  An old favorite

img_2950

And these are the projects I chose. Here’s a spoiler, I did finish one item so I needed a new prompt. The new prompt is:

7.  A product you haven’t used in a while.

img_3163

Let’s start with the new prompt first, I chose the l’oreal silkissime liner in cobalt blue. I am not trying to finish this one, but my goal will be to work my way through it until I can no longer see the L’oreal label toward the top. So, that’s still a bit of work. I rarely use this liner and I think it needs to see some action in my collection.

My product with cute packaging is the pretty vulgar powder. I started with this weighing 80 grams and it now weighs 76, so progress was certainly made. I’ll keep at it. If I haven’t used it up by the summer, I may have to roll it back out as it does nothing for oil control. But it does set my makeup nicely and it’s great to use this time of year.

My expensive product is the hourglass ambient lighting powder in dim light. I have used this almost every day. My goal is to hit pan. No pan yet…

My product in loose form was the bare minerals powder foundation, that is now used up.

My drugstore product is the NYX brow powder pencil. I used about halfway to the lettering, so progress was made.

The product I bought because of youtube is the CYO lifeproof foundation. I did make progress on this, but I also worked hard on finishing up a different foundation this month, so I think I can make my progress on this go a bit quicker next month. I am hoping to use this up, but it’s another one that needs to roll out if the weather warms. So we’ll see how far I can get!

And, the hula bronzer sample is my old favorite. I’ve used it daily, I don’t see a lot of progress. The goal is to use this one up, so it might be some time yet!

Not a bad start for a rolling project. I have a feeling that I won’t be able to roll in anything new next month. But, I’ll keep after it and see how far I can get. Sometimes I am surprised!

Protect Your Meatsuit project pan update 1

So, you may recall I began a small project pan using body care or skincare types of items. Bascially, non-makeup items. I’ve now been at it for a month and it’s time for an update.

I chose 5 items to work on.

The Sol de Janero shower gel I did make the tiniest bit of progress on. I was surprised, as I have used this almost every single day. Honestly, it’s such a lovely, rich, and beautifully scented product that a little really goes a long way. So it  may take me a year to finish this off.

The next item is my cleanser-I made a much bigger amount of progress on this than I anticipated. So much so that I am genuinely wondering if I had the original mark incorrect. No matter, we will see how it goes this month and have a better idea of that soon.

I did use both face masks this month. I am not positive I used them once a week, and progress isn’t huge, but I did use them, which means I made progress, far more so than if I’d continued to ignore them in my collection as I have been doing.

Then there’s the body exfoliator. I only used this once this month. I think it would be easy for me to finish up, there’s not much in there. But I concentrated on the shower gel instead. Perhaps I’ll set a goal to use this once a week and see how I get on with it.

So, I can’t roll anything new in this month, but I did make nice progress on each item so that’s good enough for me.

Partners in Cream

So I am just over here deciding to join in on yet another project pan. Instead of one very large project pan this year I guess I’ve chosen a few small ones. I think that’ll work for me though.

This Partners in Cream project pan is currently going around youtube and I figured I could use the idea for myself as well. The idea is to be using your creams and liquids since they go off faster than powder products. I believe it’s to be a year long rolling project pan, so I will see how far I get.

I chose only 4 products to begin with. I think that’s sufficient, and will keep things low key since I’ve got a few other projects going on as well.

img_3078

From left to right. The first product is wet n wild’s primer spray. I’ve been using this to spray my brushes to make my eyeshadow more intense, and that’s how I have used it for a very long time. However, I have other sprays now and I don’t see some big need to keep this product for this purpose, I would love to have the space back that this takes up in my collection. So, I am going to concentrate on using this until it is gone.

Next up is a liquid eyeshadow from ciate. I don’t think I like it overly much. So, my goal on this one will be to use it enough to determine if it gets to stay in my collection or move on. Basically, I want to know if I would prefer to declutter it.

Then I’ve got the bare minerals primer. This is another product where there’s very little left. But, since I rarely use it, it has gone so slow. I want to get this used up and out of my collection, again, I can use that space back.

And finally there’s the sleek palette I panned off and on all last year. I want to finish the lighter contour shade, that’s my goal this spring. I feel like that’s something that should be possible, so let’s see how I go.

I believe that the updates for these are to be posted on the 10th of the month so I’ll update again in February and I will genuinely hope that I’ve got 2 out of the 4 items used up!

Team Project Pan October update

Only two more months left on this project, hard to imagine I’ve stuck with it for an entire year!

First up, fragrances. I only managed to finish one this month. This is in part because I’ve been sick for a week and a half. When I am sick, I run the danger of associating a fragrance with being sick. So, I tend to just not use them at all until I feel much better.

I finished the Atelier sample. This one is the Vanille insensee. I liked it well enough, and thought I liked it quite a lot until I got sick while wearing it. So, that’s a no for me now. I believe that the Alien sample has just a spray or two left, so I am close on that one. And I did use Black Opium from time to time this month as well.

Let’s do palettes next.

There is the tiniest bit of progress on the darkest contour shade of the sleek palette. I have used the contour and bronzer on the tarte palette very consistently. I’ve used the blush and highlighter far less consistently.

The Mary Kay exfoliator has been used, a bit of progress made. I finished the Mac foundation completely, and you’ll see I’ve substituted in my IT cosmetics illuminating CC cream. I like it paired with the Born This Way foundation, so they’ll both see use this way. I did not make discernable progress on the born this way foundation, I’ve used it perhaps 3 times. The Sin & Co finishing spray did get used, though I think I’ve failed to use it for the past week. I need to get back in the habit. Then we have 3 primers. The No Poreblem has not been used, I’ve concentrated on the Becca and the Porefessional.

I feel like good progress has been made in these photos. Starting with the tarte blush, I have worn away the product around the one side. That’s great progress. I have used half the body butter. I have used the Bare Minerals concealer very consistently, and it’s pretty tough to get product out of at this point. I cannot seem to remove the stopper, so once I really can’t scrape it anymore, it’ll be done. The Thrive Causemetics brightener has been used but there’s no progress that is visible. I finished the Benefit Dandelion Twinkle highlighter completely. The AOA Studios powder is looking cruddy on my face. The weather has changed and I don’t have nearly as oily skin. As such, I am rolling out and not adding another powder. I still don’t see pan in my mac paintpot. The IT cosmetics brow pencil is still going strong, but I think I could use it up by the end of the year. I hit pan in my wet n wild eyeshadow. And finally, lip products. I finished the nudestix. I made progress on the bite lipstick, just a bit. And I made good progress on the MUFE one. But sadly, that one has completely turned, so I have to toss it. I’ve only worn the ofra liquid lip once.

And that’s that, another quick run down of my project pan progress. I am quite pleased with it overall this month.

Team Project Pan August Update

So here we are at the beginning of September with another team project pan update. There’s been some nice progress this month but I am at that point where I am glad there’s a refresh next month.

Let’s start with the sample fragrances. I can tell you that this category didn’t do well at all this month because more samples came in than left.

Instead of 8 or fewer samples, I now have 9. And honestly, the samples seem to have gotten larger. But I am still working at them and will continue to do so.

I think we’ll get my face palette out of the way. I am working on my Too Faced natural face palette. It’s perfect for this time of the year when I really have darker skin due to having been on vacation. For example, I am generally a mac nw13 but since vacation, I’ve been nw18. The Natural Face palette is one that works so nicely at an nw18. It’s finicky at nw13. I have to be very careful not to overdo it and the highlighters are right out.

I didn’t take a photo last month, so the photo on the left is from 2 months ago. (For the record, I haven’t used the sleek cream contour palette at all, which is why I didn’t take a photo. It’s been over 2 months since I’ve touched it.) I’ve worn away a good bit of the pattern on Sunny Honey. It may not be apparent, but I’ve also got a good dip going on Starlight and nice progress in the other highlighter as well. I’ve used both blushes quite a bit but naturally, those take a long time to see progress on. I’ve also used tropic like it’s hot every single day. This is one of those really wonderful face palettes with a ton of value for money. I think I may have gotten this one at quite a discount, and a little goes a really long way. I love this palette and I am so happy it is in my collection. I will use it one more month and then it’ll go away until next summer.

The rest of the items. Last month I posted progress on lip liners. I didn’t do so this month because I didn’t use either of them at all. Probably not even once. So, no point in taking a photo.

So, I added in a face exfoliator, and I made progress but not much. Putting this in my project pan actually made me want to use up a different one first, which is what I did. The becca primer had a lot of progress, though I think there really may have been an air bubble. I got a little of the IT cosmetics cc cream worked through, but the largest progress by far is on my mac prolongwear foundation. I am going to keep after that one as it’s too dark for me most of the year. Still looks great and it is by far my favorite foundation. Sticks to my face so nicely! The Verb texture cream I am using daily but only a little. So, progress is being made, but it’s not fast. And, since I finished my laura mercier setting powder, I am rolling in another, it’s AOA studios setting powder. I like it fine. The container is pretty small, but it’s a nice full container.

Let’s first talk about what I used up. The eyeshadow that I was using to set my primer is gone, the bite beauty lip mask is gone, and the hourglass lip crayon is gone. I am not rolling in a new lippie, I’ll concentrate on the two that remain this month. I am rolling in another setting eyeshadow. My paintpot is still being used almost daily, still haven’t hit pan but I am working on the sides now. The it cosmetics eyebrow pencil is the bane of my existence. Who would have known that one sample size product would last me an entire year of almost daily use? For real, it’ll be a surprise if it is gone at the end of the year. But I continue plugging away at it. The benefit highlighter I made extremely minimal progress on. I’ve been concentrating instead on my face palette. This highlighter will remain in the project until it is gone though, it’s so close. And, finally, I am adding something in. I am adding in my coola setting spray with sunscreen. I think this is a gimmicky product so I just want to use it right up and move it out of my collection. Thankfully it tends to disappear quickly so I don’t really think it’ll take too long.

I am already very much looking forward to next month when I get to roll out products I am bored with and roll in new things. We are also close enough to the end of the year where I am looking into what I’ll do for project pans next year. I really love this year-long one, but I think I will try something new next year to change it up. I am also looking forward to autumn and autumn colors and vampy lipsticks and so on. I love the change in seasons every season, and changing makeup colors to go right with that is so much fun. Cool-toned eyeshadow palettes and dark lips and shawls, I am so eager to enjoy all of that!

Team Project Pan quarterly refresh

I have to admit that the quarterly refresh on this year-long project pan is absolutely what holds the project together. I definitely begin to get antsy about 2 months into a set of products, and what carries me through is knowing that in a month I’ll be able to change out everything I am bored with.

So, first off, no change on fragrance samples, there’s nothing to roll in.

img_1692

img_1711

My Cover FX setting powder remains in this quarter. At this point, I am adding in a primer and a hair care item, and also switching out my foundation. The primer I am going to work on this quarter is the becca ever matte primer. I’ve had this in my stash for about a year but never tried it. If I don’t like it at the end of the month, I’ll declutter. I think this is a fair rule for something I’ve never tried before.

The hair item I am adding is Verb Sea texture cream. I like this a little bit, but not much. I can use it about once a hair wash cycle, typically on second-day hair. After that, I need other products to keep my hair looking nice.

The foundation is the IT cosmetics matte cc cream. I plan to combine this with another foundation in my stash, so it may be slow going but I am happy to be able to work on it.

I’ve decided not to bother with adding a concealer. I have only 3 anyhow, and I don’t really need to pan them.

I am, however, adding a facemask this time. I have this glamglow supermud facemask sample and I’d like to get it used up. I only use this in my Tzone and only in the hotter months. So, now is the time! There’s not terribly much left but I haven’t been using it at all so I feel like throwing it in this quarter will help me remember to get it used up and out of my collection. After all, I have plenty of face masks, and plenty of mud masks I enjoy more than this one.

img_1707

I am adding in my Too Faced Natural Face palette for this quarter. I love these tones on my face in the summer in particular. The Sleek Contour Palette remains. I doubt I’ll hit pan on anything in the Too Faced palette, but I am eager to get some steady use on it. Since it has two blushes, I won’t roll in a separate blush this quarter.

img_1712

I am keeping my bite beauty agave lip treatment, I am keeping my mac paint pot, and I am keeping my IT cosmetics eyebrow pencil.

For lip products, I am going to add in my orange NYX liquid suede lipstick. It’s a great summer shade and I like the formula well enough. For a bullet lipstick, I am choosing my hourglass sample. It’s a fantastic nude color and will go beautifully with anything I wear. And, since it gives me a slightly sore throat feeling that happens with many lipsticks, I want to use it up and get it out of my collection. I am also adding in a nudestix matte lip pencil. I don’t like the formula on this all that much, but it’s a pretty warm toned color and I would like to get it used up and out of my stash.

I’ve added a highlighter I’ve been working on panning on the down-low. As you can see, I am almost done with it. It is benefit dandelion twinkle and it was one of my first highlighters. I really like this one but since I depotted it, it doesn’t have a proper place in my collection and it’s so close to being done! I also added an eyeshadow I’ve been panning on the down-low. That’s a Morphie shade, a cream matte, and I’ve been using it to set my base. I think I could get both of these used up this quarter.

And finally I am adding in a sample size eyeshadow primer sachet. Since I am finding it relatively irritating to keep sachets around, I figure I can get this used up this quarter and then continue on with my mac paint pot.

img_1708

I am keeping my MUFE lip liner in the project, but I am adding a more appropriately colored liner for my NYX  lip cream and nudestix lip items. And, that’s a NYX item as well, NYX Suede liner in stockholm. It’s an orangier toned lip liner than the MUFE so I think it’ll be appropriate to add in this quarter.

And, that’s it. My quarterly refresh is now squared away and I can get started on all of these items. You may notice I didn’t choose a colored shadow to work on this quarter. This is entirely because I am so enjoying my 3 color challenge each week and I don’t think I’d make much progress on one.
